East Meets West Satchel--Part Two

I've made progress on the bag.  The pieces have all been completed--sort of.  I say "sort of" because I am really not happy with the way that the flap turned out.  Intarsia is not my thing.  I don't care for how it looks most of the time (chunks of color, vs. Fair Isle, which is more like an all-over patterning--and was used everywhere on the bag except the flap), and I know now that I don't like knitting with a bajillion little yarn bobbins hanging off the back of my work.  I did get the hang of it after a while, so I know I could do it again if I actually find some project with intarsia that I must do (although I'm betting this is unlikely).

Here are all the pieces, steeked and blocked out to dry...

And a closeup of the front side of the bag.  It turned out so pretty...

Here's the back of the bag and the flap.  Not pleased...

After much deliberation, soul searching and feeling a little sick to my stomach at the thought of tearing it out and doing it over, I decided that I will be tearing it (the flap only) out and doing it over (barf).  I can't live with the way it looks now.  I am going to be trying a different method this time, a lot less intarsia and a lot more duplicate stitch.

I'll let you know how it goes.
