New project

I have a new project going that I can't wait to blog about.  It's the first time I've tried this particular aspect of knitting and I'm excited.

Mom arrived on her visit with several articles of clothing she didn't want anymore.  There was a really nice cotton sweater in there, barely used (if used at all), in a natural cream color.  It was boxy and cropped, and didn't look good on either of us.  Besides, that color does not look very good on me.  I promptly turned it inside out to look at the seams and was very excited.

Why?  Because it was actually knit in pieces and seamed together, like a real knit garment.  What does that mean?  It means that I can take the sweater apart and use the yarn for something else!

So, that's what I did.  I'm taking pictures of the whole process.  Right now, the yarn has been washed and is drying, ready to be measured.  I think it's going to be a sweater for Holly.  This one, actually.  If all goes well.  If not, I'll find another pattern.  I'm just hoping I can knit a whole sweater from 100% cotton and not kill my hands...

I will be posting the pictures and steps on here, mostly because I think it's such a fun process--and more people should know that they can recycle knit/crochet items (as long as they're in good shape of course, and the seams are the right kind).

Stay tuned!

What an adorable sweater; she'll look so cute in it! Can't wait to see your progress and be inspired by it.
