I even got to take some rather mindless, but useful and beautiful knitting with me! My mom gave me some yarn made from two of her boys' fiber (plus another alpaca she doesn't own) a while ago. I've been waiting and waiting to find the perfect project for it. It's two natural colors of fibers plied together. 100% alpaca. SO soft and luxurious. What to knit with it? Something that shows off the fiber. Something that will get used. Something that won't be too warm (alpaca is WARM).
I've been wanting an everyday wrap/shawl type thing to put around my shoulders when I'm on the couch or sitting up reading in bed....sooo...I'm making a shawl. It's a great, mindless, pretty, soothing pattern that lets me focus on how dreamy (yes, I used that word--it fits!) the yarn feels in my hands. I've been drawn toward simple things lately, knits with thicker yarns. I think it's because I have done a lot of intricate things (which I love) and my brain's been working on so many other things. A craving for simplicity.

| Really, can it get any better than this? |

A note on the pattern:
It can be found here: http://www.knitpicks.com/cfpatterns/pattern_display.cfm?ID=50354221
It's free, easy, and it's a clever pattern in that it's worked side-to-side (not usual for a triangular shawl). This means you just do increases until you've used up half your yarn or the shawl half is as big as you want it, then start doing decreases to make the other half. It's handy when you have yarn to make a shawl, but the yardage isn't quite right for anything else you've seen or it's a different weight than other patterns. It doesn't really matter with this one. And it's really pretty to boot!
