At least it's something...

Nope, no hat.  Still no hat.  It fits.  It's done except for casting off about 1/3 of the stitches.  I tried it on.  It's too long.  I don't like how it makes my head look really tall.  And I mean really tall.  So it'll be ripped back.

Must be a difficult pattern, huh?  I mean, a simple hat, and this will be my, what, fourth attempt (or at least partial attempt)?

No, it's not difficult.  I'm just being kind of, well, dumb.  That and my last project (actually, lots of 'em, but they're secret) went so well that I believe the knitting gods are making sure there's some balance in the fiberverse.  It could also be because I have a bunch of stuff that I should be knitting to be done for the holidays, but I put it aside for now.  Maybe that's a part of it.

Not sure when it'll be done at this point.  I've learned my lesson, and I'm back to the super secret projects.  For now.  Some more 50% off yarn happened to jump into my car on the way home from town today.  Enough for a sweater for me!  That's something I don't get too often--sweater amounts of yarn.  Almost made me giddy.  Maybe it was the heat though.

Anyway, I do have some pictures for you.  I finally wove in the ends and blocked my Lava Flow Cowl.  It's very pretty (a bit busy, but that's the yarn for ya) and it'll be very useful this winter.  It's silk and merino wool, hand-dyed.  I love, love, love, love this yarn (maybe not the dyeing, but I do love the colors, just too busy for me).  It's shiny and soft with a little fuzz.

Without further ado, here it is:

I love making these long cowls.  They are more useful than a scarf, in my opinion, because they don't slide off.  You can wear 'em different ways, and you don't have to take 'em off when you're indoors.  You can just wear it as part of your outfit!  Handy to have here in the frozen northland.
