I made a hat. It took about a day and a half. I modified a pattern from Knitty called Minty so I could use some of my handspun. It worked out perfectly and I love the result.
The yarn is made from a BFL/silk blend that was handpainted (and it was so beautiful to spin!), spun as a single. I'm really proud of this yarn because it's really my first single yarn (which means it's one strand, not two or more twisted, or plied, together) and that's difficult to do at first. Why is it difficult? Because it's really easy to either give your singles too much twist (so it's kinky--and not in a good way) or too little (which means it falls apart). So, yeah, I'm proud.
Here's a lousy webcam shot of me in my hat (excuse the lack of makeup etc.--I was so excited I finished my hat!):
I promise I will take better pictures later. The colors are gorgeous! Oh, and it's really fun to wear. It's on my head as I type...
P.S. My webcam always makes my face look a lot rounder than it actually is (it's not me saying this, it's Brad as well--he actually pointed it out). Does anyone know what might cause this? Angle of the laptop screen? Closeness of object (i.e. my big ol' head)?
